The White House has extended a proposal to nine top universities, requesting them to align with President Donald Trump's political agenda in return for favorable access to federal funding. The universities are urged to sign a 'Compact for Academic Excellence in Higher Education,' integrating the White House's vision into their protocols.

This compact aims to unify the government's priorities on key issues such as admissions, gender policy, free speech, and college affordability. In doing so, the institutions would gain preference for federal grants and White House events, although the funding is not exclusive to them, an official disclosed on condition of anonymity.

While some institutions, like the University of Texas, have expressed willingness to engage, reactions from other universities remain pending. Notably, this initiative mirrors previous instances where federal funding has been used as leverage to influence educational policies at institutions like Harvard and Columbia.
