The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh on Drishti IAS for disseminating misleading advertisements about its success in the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2022.

The institute's advertisement falsely suggested '216+ selections' by prominently featuring the names and photos of successful candidates, yet it concealed that many of the candidates had merely utilized Drishti IAS's free Interview Guidance Program (IGP), having passed the Preliminary and Mains stages independently.

This is not the first time Drishti IAS has faced repercussions; a similar case of exaggeration with the UPSC CSE 2021 results led to penalties and a cease of the misleading claim of '150+ selections'. CCPA is doubling its efforts to ensure coaching institutes comply with fair advertising practices.
