Sonequa Martin-Green has officially joined the cast of CBS's upcoming series 'Boston Blue,' a spin-off of the acclaimed drama 'Blue Bloods,' as reported by Variety.
In her new role, Martin-Green will portray detective Lena Peters, the eldest offspring in a distinguished law enforcement family, who partners with detective Danny Reagan, played by Donnie Wahlberg.
The news was revealed by Wahlberg and Martin-Green during a CBS press briefing in Los Angeles, where the network unveiled its 2025-2026 schedule. Martin-Green expressed her gratitude for the role and her excitement about joining the CBS family again.
"We have always admired the Reagans," Martin-Green stated, emphasizing her enthusiasm for the Peters family's introduction. Wahlberg, serving as executive producer, highlighted Martin-Green as the perfect choice to play Detective Peters, underscoring the continuation of law enforcement family narratives in the series.
'Boston Blue' was approved following the cancellation of 'Blue Bloods' after its 14-season run. Martin-Green is best known for her significant roles in 'Star Trek: Discovery' and 'The Walking Dead,' alongside credits from series such as 'The Good Wife' and 'Once Upon a Time.'
