In light of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Vishwa Hindu Parishad National Spokesperson Ravinuthala Shashidhar has urged the Telangana State government to cancel the upcoming Miss World 2025 event. Shashidhar voiced concerns about contestants from countries deemed adversarial to India or sympathetic to anti-India elements, singling out Pakistan, Bangladesh, Turkey, and Canada.
Shashidhar emphasized, "The Telangana government should cancel the Miss World pageant. How can beauty pageants be held with representatives from enemy countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Turkey, and Canada?" He further demanded the arrest and deportation of illegal infiltrators residing near defense establishments in Hyderabad.
These statements come against the backdrop of heightened military activities. India has intensified its defense efforts following Pakistan's drone attacks along the border and the Line of Control. The Indian Army and Air Force have deployed the Akash missile defense system, underscoring India's commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty and territory.
