President Droupadi Murmu on Friday urged the nation's young talents to apply their technical education for societal enhancement, beyond personal accomplishments. She was addressing the 45th convocation of IIT (Indian School of Mines) in Dhanbad, marking the institute's centenary.
Murmu released a commemorative postal stamp at the event, emphasizing the role of technology in creating a just and green India. With 1,880 students graduating, India's push towards becoming a technological superpower was highlighted, with Murmu encouraging innovation and startups.
The President lauded IIT-ISM's efforts to uplift tribal and disadvantaged communities and conferred the President's Gold Medal to Priyanshu Sharma, the top BTech graduate. The ceremony was part of the institute's 100-year celebration of contributions to science, technology, and education.
