In a strong advocacy for the revival of Sanskrit, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Friday highlighted its pivotal role in Indian culture. He described Sanskrit as the 'mother of all Indian languages' and stressed it should be adopted as a medium of daily communication.
Addressing attendees at Kavi Kulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University in Nagpur, Bhagwat noted the difference between understanding and speaking Sanskrit, urging for its broader adoption to preserve cultural heritage. Despite government support, he insisted on the necessity for public involvement in the language's propagation.
Emphasizing India's cultural uniqueness through concepts like 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam', Bhagwat contrasted these with Western ideologies. The RSS chief's call for 'atmanirbhar' (self-reliance) echoes the need for linguistic and intellectual growth, underscoring Sanskrit as a means of understanding the nation itself.
