Punjab Minister Summoned by Akal Takht for Alleged Disrespect to Sikh Sentiments
Punjab Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains has been summoned by the Akal Takht to appear before Sikh high priests on August 6 for allegedly disrespecting Sikh sentiments by organizing entertainment performances at an event in Srinagar. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee condemned the event, calling it an affront to Sikh values.

The Akal Takht has summoned Punjab Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains to appear before the five Singh Sahiban on August 6. This follows allegations of him organizing entertainment performances that allegedly disrespected Sikh sentiments.
The event in question took place in Srinagar to commemorate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has strongly objected to the performances, labeling them contrary to Sikh religious values.
Minister Bains expressed his willingness to appear before the Akal Takht and accept any directive from the Sikh high priests. He asked for forgiveness, asserting his moral responsibility for the oversight.
