The Goa government introduced its ambitious 'Homestay and Bed and Breakfast Scheme' aimed at bolstering rural tourism and community engagement. This initiative, launched by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, extends financial incentives and diverse support to local residents managing homestays in the hinterlands.

The scheme emphasizes empowering women operators, providing them with a valuable platform to showcase unique offerings while fostering access to Goa's rich wildlife sanctuaries and quaint village destinations. Aligning with the 'Goa Beyond Beaches' vision, the scheme encourages community-based tourism with a focus on gender empowerment.

Key collaborations with platforms like Airbnb, coupled with ongoing training programs, are set to elevate rural tourism in Goa. The scheme offers fiscal and non-fiscal incentives, streamlined registration, quality classification, and promotional support. Eligible homestays across several talukas will receive grants and benefit from various development initiatives.
