A centuries-old dargah in Delhi narrowly averted a greater tragedy when a portion of its roof collapsed, killing six and injuring five, according to locals. The disaster struck just after 3:30 pm, but fortunately missed the larger crowd that gathers during the afternoon Jumma namaz.

Located near Humayun's Tomb, the Dargah Shareef Patte Wali has long been a spiritual haven for devotees beyond the city. Vendors and locals expressed relief that the collapse didn't occur during peak prayer times. ''Had this happened during prayer, it would have been a much bigger tragedy,'' said Rakesh, a local vendor.

Authorities have sealed off the site as the investigation unfolds. For many, the dargah represents a deeply personal place of worship. One regular visitor from Ghaziabad expressed his shaken state upon learning of the closure due to the accident. The dargah remains an iconic part of the community, entwined with the 16th-century mausoleum of Humayun.
