Tragedy in Khandwa: Devotional Procession Ends in Disaster
At least nine devotees lost their lives when a tractor-trolley carrying Durga idols for immersion fell into a lake in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh. Emergency responders have retrieved nine bodies and continue search operations. An investigation into the accident is underway.

In a tragic incident, at least nine devotees died after a tractor-trolley transporting idols of Goddess Durga for immersion plunged into a lake in Madhya Pradesh's Khandwa district. The incident occurred in the Pandhana area, according to police reports.
The procession was part of Vijayadashmi celebrations, and the tractor was carrying idols from various villages when the accident happened, Inspector General of Police (Indore rural range) Anurag informed PTI.
State Disaster Response Force officials have retrieved nine bodies, and search operations continue. Additional SDRF teams have been dispatched, and an investigation into the accident has been initiated.
