Khadi: A Revived Symbol of Swadeshi and Self-Reliance

Union Home Minister Amit Shah reiterated the significance of khadi as more than just a fabric, emphasizing its connection to 'swadeshi' and self-reliance. In a sharp critique of the Congress, he pointed out their neglect of khadi promotion post-independence.
Shah highlighted the initiatives taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which have remarkably boosted the khadi sector. The sector's turnover soared to Rs 1.70 lakh crore from Rs 33,000 crore in 2014-15, providing employment to numerous artisans.
At the 'Khadi Karigar Mahotsav' event, Shah distributed tool kits and emphasized the role of khadi in the country's journey towards self-reliance, urging citizens to incorporate it into their daily lives as a step towards 'atmanirbharta'.
