Punjab Congress Chief Calls for Ban on Gangster-Themed Web Series

Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring has taken a firm stand against the upcoming ZEE5 docu-series on notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Warring has requested intervention to prevent the series from being aired, arguing that it might glorify a criminal culture and could negatively influence young minds.

Expressing deep concern, Warring emphasized the potential detrimental effects of portraying a gangster as a cultural icon, which might undermine Punjab's rich historical and cultural values. He highlighted that such representation could associate Punjab, a land known for its spiritual heritage, with negative influences.

In an effort to prevent the series' broadcast, Warring has also filed a public interest litigation (PIL) in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. He insists that banning the series is in the greater interest of preserving the socio-cultural integrity of Punjab and preventing the glorification of a criminal lifestyle.
