RSS Controversy: Clash of Ideologies Between Congress and RSS

The Congress on Friday alleged that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) stands in contradiction to the core idea of India. Despite its efforts to project nationalism, the RSS reportedly seeks acceptance on the international stage.

This reaction came as RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale, during an event in the US, refuted claims equating the RSS to the Ku Klux Klan. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh posted on X, emphasizing the organization's tracks of engaging in public relations abroad, and remarked on their inspirations from European fascism.

Hosabale defended the RSS at the Hudson Institute in Washington, claiming misunderstandings about the organization. He stressed the RSS's cultural ethos, highlighting the Hindu philosophy of universal oneness. The RSS maintains that their foundational beliefs and volunteer spirit oppose any supremacist ideologies invoked by critics.
