In a heart-wrenching incident during a Kalash Yatra in Nokhepurwa village, two minors tragically drowned in the Ganga river. This occurred amid a religious procession associated with Bhagwat Katha.
Five children initially went into the river to bathe but were overwhelmed by the deep waters and powerful currents. Villagers managed to save three girls, while Sandhya, 14, and Omji, 16, were claimed by the river.
A coordinated search operation was promptly launched, involving local divers and police. Despite exhaustive efforts throughout the night, it was only on Friday morning that Omji's body was found. Sandhya had been recovered the prior evening.
