In a sweeping initiative to bolster disaster readiness, the West Tripura district administration spearheaded a large-scale civil defence mock drill in Agartala. The exercise aimed to evaluate the region's preparedness against potential earthquakes and air raids, involving diverse activities from rescue simulations to public awareness campaigns.

District Magistrate Dr Vishal Kumar underscored the significance of the drill, which saw participation from approximately 17 departments, including key agencies like the NDRF, SDRF, BSF, and CRPF. "The objectives of resource mobilization, assessment, and public awareness were triumphantly achieved," remarked Dr. Kumar, highlighting the event's success.

The drill included two phases across prominent locations, utilizing the expertise of around 500 officials and volunteers from sectors related to disaster response. Emphasis was particularly placed on coordination between agencies and the public—a factor Dr. Kumar identified as paramount for future emergencies.
