The residents of Jammu and Kashmir's Uri sector are facing severe hardships due to ongoing shelling by the Pakistani Army, which began on the night of May 7. Following Operation Sindoor, this cross-border aggression has left locals scrambling for safety and basic necessities.

Numerous civilians, including children, have sustained injuries from the relentless bombshells that have struck residential areas. "We have nothing left — no food, no shelter," lamented one distraught local. The Indian Army has reported that these unprovoked attacks have been met with a proportionate military response.

The increased hostilities come in the aftermath of the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam. In retaliation, India conducted strikes targeting key terror infrastructure. This has led to heightened tensions, with both armies exchanging fire across the Line of Control, affecting several border districts in Jammu and Kashmir.
