In a tragic turn of events, Indian Army soldier Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar was fatally struck by Pakistani shelling across the Line of Control (LoC), deeply affecting his family and village in Palwal, Haryana, as they mourn his loss. Heartbreaking scenes from his home reveal his distraught wife and devastated parents, alongside a grieving community paying their final respects. Dinesh Kumar is survived by his wife, two children, parents, and siblings.

Recalling the sequence of events leading to the tragic news, Kapil, Dinesh Kumar's brother, spoke to ANI about the phone calls he received. "At 4 AM, I got a call from his number. When I called back at 8 AM, his commanding officer informed me that my brother was seriously injured and undergoing surgery at a field hospital. A later call reassured me he was stable, but eventually, I learned from the hospital that he had passed away," Kapil recounted, noting that his brother's body was expected to arrive after 2 PM.

The White Knight Corps confirmed Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar's ultimate sacrifice via social media. In an official post, they honored his bravery, stating, "The GOC and all ranks of WhiteKnightCorps salute the supreme sacrifice of Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar of 5 Fd Regt, who laid down his life on 07 May 25 during Pakistan Army shelling." They extended solidarity to the civilians enduring the cross-border violence, noting the continued attacks on innocent people in the Poonch Sector. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, 13 civilians have been casualties of ceasefire violations along the LoC, all in Poonch.

Reports indicate that the shelling by the Pakistan Army began on the night of May 6 and persisted through May 7, hitting civilian areas in Poonch, Tangdhar, and other border regions. The onslaught caused substantial damage to homes, prompted many locals to flee, and resulted in injuries to several individuals. (ANI)
