In a decisive move, India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced a calibrated response to what he termed as Pakistan's 'original escalation' following the Pahalgam terror incident. He emphasized India's intent to remain restrained, hitting terror infrastructure rather than military targets during precision strikes early Wednesday.
Misri underscored that India was merely responding to escalations initiated on April 22, asserting future responses will remain within appropriate bounds. The Pahalgam situation, escalated by Pakistan's opposition at the UNSC, saw claims of responsibility by The Resistance Front, which has been officially accepted twice.
Highlighting Pakistan's concerning history with terrorism, Misri referenced past incidents involving Osama Bin Laden and UN-proscribed terrorists. Recent targeted attacks by Pakistan on the Sikh community in Jammu and Kashmir have further inflamed tensions, prompting Misri's strong condemnation and a reaffirmation of India's measured approach amidst ongoing artillery exchanges and civilian casualties.
