Russia is set to parade its combat drones on Moscow's iconic Red Square, marking a first in the nation's military displays, according to state TV reports. The event will commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany during World War II.
Featured in the showcase will be the ZALA Lancet, a loitering munition known for its dual role in reconnaissance and strike missions. The Lancet drone has been reported to effectively target Ukrainian military assets such as tanks and aircraft. The parade will also feature the Geran-2, a Russian kamikaze drone whose design originated in Iran. This model has been employed in assaults on Ukrainian energy infrastructure, with accusations from Kyiv that it has been used to strike civilian areas as well.
While Russian officials deny deliberate attacks on civilians, maintaining that their military actions focus solely on military or strategic targets, the use of these drones has drawn criticism and concern internationally.
