Banks Debunk ATM Shutdown Rumours Amidst Tensions
Public sector banks, including SBI and PNB, assure customers that their ATMs and digital services are fully functional amidst rumours of shutdowns due to India-Pakistan tensions. Banks are advising customers to rely on verified information and ensuring adequate cash supply while enhancing cybersecurity measures.

Amidst circulating rumours on social media, major public sector banks like the State Bank of India and Punjab National Bank have confirmed that their ATMs and digital services are fully operational. These banks moved quickly to dispel fears of potential service shutdowns caused by escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.
State Bank of India, the largest lender in the country, reassured customers through a post, emphasizing that their ATMs, CDMs/ADWMs, and digital banking services remain available. The banks urged customers to avoid acting on unverified reports. Similar statements affirming service continuity were also made by other banks such as the Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, and Union Bank of India.
Union Bank of India's MD and CEO, A Manimekhalai, highlighted measures undertaken to ensure economic stability, including maintaining cash flow at branches. Precautionary directives were also issued to staff in border states. Additionally, the bank emphasized bolstering cybersecurity infrastructure to safeguard services against potential threats.
