India Dismisses Food Shortage Rumors Amid Military Tensions

Union Consumer Affairs and Food Minister Pralhad Joshi has dismissed rumors regarding a potential shortage of food grains in the country, asserting that India currently maintains more than adequate stock levels. The Minister has strongly cautioned the public against circulating misleading information about food supplies.

In his recent statement on social media platform X, Minister Joshi emphasized the ample food reserves maintained by India, urging traders and other entities in the supply chain to cooperate with law enforcement to prevent illegal hoarding. He warned that violators would face legal consequences under the Essential Commodities Act.

This comes at a time of heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following India's 'Operation Sindoor,' targeting terrorist sites in response to a terrorist attack in Pahalgam. During a press briefing, Indian officials confirmed that selected terrorist camps were destroyed without civilian casualties, marking India's most extensive military operation in Pakistan in decades.
