Tamil Nadu BJP vice president Narayanan Thirupathy has criticized the Congress party's stance regarding the recent halt in hostilities between India and Pakistan. Thirupathy emphasized that Congress leader Shashi Tharoor's comments should be taken seriously, noting that the decision to cease escalation was a strategic move to avoid prolonged conflict rather than an outcome of external mediation.

According to Thirupathy, India chose to have an understanding with Pakistan on its terms, a move that was aligned with India's goal of targeting terrorism while minimizing further loss of life. He accused the Congress of politicizing the issue and urged them to recognize the government's efforts to restore peace. Meanwhile, posters proclaiming slogans like "Indira Hona Aasan Nahi" surfaced outside Congress headquarters, evoking memories of Indira Gandhi's decisive leadership.

These developments come in the wake of escalating tensions with Pakistan following the Pahalgam attack on April 22, which resulted in 26 fatalities. Congress leaders, including KC Venugopal and Pawan Khera, invoked the legacy of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, with posts on social media reflecting on her leadership during the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War. Despite announcing a ceasefire, reports emerged of Pakistan violating the agreement, prompting India to launch Operation Sindoor against terrorist sites.
