In a dramatic turn reminiscent of a film scene, a 26-year-old man in Vijayapura, Karnataka, climbed a telecom tower over a family disagreement about his marriage and inheritance.
According to police, his family opposed his choice of partner, threatening to disinherit him if he married her. The incident unfolded at around 6:30 p.m. on June 18, leaving onlookers distressed and fearing the worst.
A police official from the Superintendent of Police's office reported that officers finally managed to coax the man down. He was identified as Srisaila Nagappa Ramatirtha from Kotyala, Vijayapura. Following a medical checkup and stern counsel, he was released without charges.
