Aiswarya Biswal, President of BJP Mahila Morcha, has launched a scathing attack against the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) government, condemning its past handling of crimes against women. The fierce criticism comes in the wake of the Gopalpur rape case, which has drawn significant political and public backlash.
Biswal alleged that under the BJD's lengthy rule, crimes against women were rampant and inadequately addressed. "It's unfortunate that despite BJD's long tenure, nothing significant was done to prevent such crimes," she said, while also pointing out alleged involvement of senior party leaders in criminal activities. The current government, led by CM Mohan Charan Majhi, has vowed stringent action.
Tensions have escalated as Congress leaders clashed with police while protesting against the gang rape at Gopalpur beach, demanding the Chief Minister's resignation. Police detained several protestors. Meanwhile, the police have apprehended all 10 suspects linked to the case, with the incident sending shockwaves across Odisha.
