In a scathing critique, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey targeted the Congress party's historical foreign policy decisions, particularly under the leadership of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Speaking on social media platform X, Dubey recounted that Gandhi was reportedly made to wait for an hour by then-U.S. President Richard Nixon during her 1971 visit to Washington.
Dubey urged the Congress to reflect on its past, contrasting it with the foreign policy of current Prime Minister Narendra Modi. His comments come after previously criticizing Congress over foreign policy missteps, including an incident involving the Pakistani military chief allegedly visiting the U.S.
Addressing ANI, Dubey accused the Congress of falling into a trap set by Pakistan and conflating opposition to PM Modi with opposition to India itself. He referenced the delayed Canadian investigation into the 1985 Kanishka bombing, implying Canada's neglect in addressing issues raised by Indira Gandhi, who wrote repeatedly to then-PM Pierre Trudeau.
