High Court Stands Firm: No Early Hearing for Lalu Prasad Yadav's Plea

The Delhi High Court refused to expedite Lalu Prasad Yadav's plea to quash a CBI FIR in a land-for-jobs case. Yadav argued the trial, slated between July 26 and August 2, would render his plea moot. The court noted similar requests had previously been denied by both itself and the Supreme Court.

The Delhi High Court has denied Lalu Prasad Yadav's request for an early hearing in his petition to quash a CBI FIR linked to the land-for-jobs case. Justice Ravinder Dhingra highlighted that the matter is already scheduled for August 12, 2025, terming the date as 'not very far.'

Yadav's plea aimed to forestall trial proceedings from progressing, arguing that it would nullify the High Court's consideration. However, the court reiterated that both it and the Supreme Court had previously rejected similar applications, with the latter declining to intervene as recently as July 18.

The allegations involve appointments made in the West Central Railway's Jabalpur zone during Yadav's ministerial tenure, reportedly in exchange for land gifted to his relatives. Yadav contends the case's revival is politically driven and lacks legal sanction, thus violating his rights. The High Court will review the matter come August 12.
