Surya Dronathon 2025: Pioneering Drone Competition at Himachal's Heights

The Surya Command of the Indian Army is teaming up with the Drone Federation of India to present the Surya Dronathon 2025, a groundbreaking drone competition scheduled to unfold in the breathtaking Spiti Valley, Sumdo, Himachal Pradesh. This ambitious event will bring together drone enthusiasts and manufacturers from across India to navigate one of the nation's highest obstacle courses situated at an altitude of 10,700 feet.

Aimed at driving the development of indigenous technologies, the Dronathon aligns with the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' vision by promoting innovation within the defense sector. Participants will be tasked with creating advanced drone solutions to meet the evolving needs of the Indian Army. This competition offers a platform for novel designs, technological breakthroughs, and military applications of drone technology, encouraging collaboration between individual innovators, startups, and established defense manufacturers.

Structured across two stages with multiple events like Obstacle Negotiation and an Endurance Race, the competition will run from August 10-15 and August 20-24. It invites participation from Service Teams, freelancers, and OEMs, with registrations closing on August 1. The Surya Dronathon 2025 is set to establish new milestones in defense innovation, underscoring the Army's commitment to enhancing national security through technology and self-reliance.
