In a significant appointment within the Indian Army, Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh of the Parachute Regiment assumed the role of Vice Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS) on Friday. Lt Gen Singh steps into this prestigious position following the superannuation of Lt Gen NS Raja Subramani, marking a pivotal moment in his remarkable 38-year career.
The ceremony, held at the South Block in the national capital, saw Lt Gen Pushpendra Singh formally take charge as the new VCOAS. Prior to this role, he served as the Director General of Operational Logistics & Strategic Movement at Army Headquarters, showcasing his strategic prowess.
Commissioned into the 4th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) in December 1987, Lt Gen Singh is a proud alumnus of La Martiniere College and the Indian Military Academy. His extensive experience includes participating in key operations such as 'OP PAWAN', 'OP MEGHDOOT', and commanding units along critical borders. Recognized for his service, he has been awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Sena Medal Bar.
Lt Gen NS Raja Subramani, after 39 years in service, was given a fitting farewell on Thursday. During a ceremony at the National War Memorial, he paid homage to the army officers' sacrifices and received a Guard of Honour. His leadership has been an exemplary chapter in the Army's legacy.
In an official statement, the Indian Army expressed its gratitude for Lt Gen Subramani's contributions and extended best wishes for his future endeavors, acknowledging his substantial impact on military leadership.
