In a significant move towards inclusive development, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju stressed the importance of empowering Muslim women with a knowledge of their rights. Speaking at a national consultation by the National Commission for Women (NCW), Rijiju highlighted that economic independence leads to social empowerment.
The consultation assembled experts and stakeholders to discuss legal, economic, and social rights of Muslim women in India. Emphasizing the necessity of societal shifts along with legal reforms, the event sought to amplify the voices of Muslim women. NCW Chairperson Vijay Rahatkar reaffirmed the Commission's commitment to justice and dignity for all.
The day's discussions included various topics, from the effectiveness of government schemes to legal challenges and marriage rights under Muslim personal law. Rijiju pledged to advance the consultation's outcomes, while NCW launched 'Naya Daur', a publication on Muslim women's rights.
