Supreme Court Collegium Paves way for New High Court Judges Across India

The Supreme Court collegium has taken significant steps forward in judicial appointments across several high courts in India, as detailed in its latest meeting. In a session chaired by Chief Justice BR Gavai, the three-member collegium approved numerous recommendations to enhance the high court benches of Delhi, Bombay, Calcutta, and Karnataka, among others.
Among the key appointments, the collegium endorsed Vimal Kumar Yadav for the position of judge at the Delhi High Court and recommended three advocates for judgeships in the Bombay High Court. The resolution was uploaded on the Supreme Court's website, revealing the names of Ajit Bhagwanrao Kadethankar, Aarti Arun Sathe, and Sushil Manohar Ghodeswar as the chosen candidates for Bombay.
Further approvals included Justice Gurusiddaiah Basavaraja's transition to a permanent judge at the Karnataka High Court and additional judges in Calcutta and Andhra Pradesh stepping into permanent roles. The decision also extends the tenure of multiple additional judges at the Calcutta High Court by another year.
