The Jyeshtabhishekam, an annual sacred bathing ceremony, took center stage at the Kamalavalli Nachiyar Temple in Woraiyur. Known as one of the 108 Divya Desams, this sacred shrine is particularly famous for offering blessings that remove obstacles to marriage.
This week, following longstanding traditions echoed at other significant shrines such as the Srirangam Ranganathar and Ranganayaki, the temple conducted the sacred bath for Goddess Kamalavalli. Holy water, obtained from the revered river Kaveri, was transported in both golden and silver pots, carried in a ceremonial procession by temple priests and devotees.
The ornate procession continued within the temple, accompanied by traditional mangala vadhyam, as the sacred pots were carried through the temple's inner precincts. The adornments of the goddess were respectfully removed to perform the abhishekam, followed by dressing the deity in fresh garments and decorations. Devotees thronged the temple grounds for a chance to witness the holy ritual and receive divine blessings. (ANI)
