In response to ongoing adverse weather conditions marked by persistent rainfall, authorities in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, announced the closure of all government and private schools for classes 1 to 12 as of Monday. District Magistrate Visakh G. Iyer made the announcement, pointing to relentless precipitation affecting numerous districts.

In Ayodhya's Jalwanpura locality, residents grappled with knee-deep floodwaters after the Saryu River overflowed following consistent downpours. Meanwhile, heavy rains also inundated several areas in Varanasi city, causing the River Ganga's water level to rise continuously since Saturday. As a precaution, all boats on the Ganga have been temporarily banned.

Amidst these challenges, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has dispatched ministers to supervise relief operations across 12 impacted districts. He reinforced the importance of prompt and high-quality relief measures while mandating 24/7 monitoring by senior officials. The government affirmed its commitment to support every affected citizen by ensuring their safety and welfare. The Indian Meteorological Department forecasts isolated heavy rainfall over the state from August 3rd to 6th.
