Over 4 crore women across India have benefited from the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), with the Ministry of Women and Child Development announcing disbursements surpassing Rs 19,028 crore. The program is a testament to the government's dedication to improving maternal and child health.
In a recent statement, the ministry announced an extension of its registration drive until August 15, aiming to enroll all eligible pregnant and lactating women through door-to-door campaigns led by Anganwadi and ASHA workers. These efforts focus on ensuring financial benefits while fostering positive attitudes toward the girl child.
The PMMVY scheme, part of Mission Shakti's 'Samarthya' sub-scheme, provides wage compensation to mothers via direct benefit transfers, enhanced through the PMMVYSoft digital platform, which uses Aadhaar-based authentication to ensure direct bank transfers. This initiative remains committed to boosting maternal nutrition and gender equity.
