In an effort to celebrate World Sanskrit Day, the Gujarat government has announced a special three-day celebration under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. Scheduled from August 6 to 8, the events will coincide with World Sanskrit Day on August 9, and align with the National Education Policy 2020, according to a release by the Gujarat Chief Minister's Office on Monday.
The initiative aims to showcase the elegance and clarity of Sanskrit, often celebrated as an ancient repository of India's spiritual and cultural heritage. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has encouraged increased engagement with the language, highlighting its role in enriching knowledge and fostering unity. Initiated in 1969 by the Government of India and Sanskrit institutions, Sanskrit Day spotlights the language's cultural value and seeks to bridge generational divides.
A highlight of the Gujarat celebrations will be the Sanskrit Gaurav Yatra, aimed at promoting Sanskrit's rich legacy at district and state levels. Additionally, the 'Yojana Panchakam', introduced by the Gujarat State Sanskrit Board, signifies a commitment to preserving the language, with schemes to support learning and cultural appreciation. The festivities will encompass a range of events from exhibitions to literary celebrations, reflecting both ancient traditions and modern advances in Sanskrit's promotion.
