Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today chaired a crucial high-level meeting with senior ministers and officials to chart the roadmap for Next-Generation Reforms, signaling a fresh wave of transformative policy changes aimed at accelerating India’s march toward inclusive and sustainable prosperity.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the upcoming reforms will focus on enhancing Ease of Living for citizens, improving Ease of Doing Business for enterprises, and fostering growth across sectors.

Taking to social media platform X after the meeting, PM Modi said: “Chaired a meeting to discuss the roadmap for Next-Generation Reforms. We are committed to speedy reforms across all sectors, which will boost Ease of Living, Ease of Doing Business and prosperity.”

A New Phase in India’s Reform Journey

Over the past decade, India has witnessed sweeping reforms in taxation, digital governance, infrastructure, and social welfare. From GST implementation and Insolvency & Bankruptcy Code (IBC) to Digital India, Jan Dhan-Aadhaar-Mobile (JAM) Trinity, and PM GatiShakti, these changes have already reshaped the economic and social landscape.

Officials noted that the Next-Generation Reforms will build on this foundation, addressing the needs of a rapidly modernizing economy while ensuring equity, sustainability, and global competitiveness. The reforms will aim to reduce regulatory bottlenecks, leverage technology for governance, and enhance productivity across sectors.

Focus Areas of Next-Gen Reforms

While details are yet to be officially announced, sources familiar with the discussion highlighted several key domains likely to see accelerated reforms:

  • Ease of Living: Expansion of digital public services, better healthcare delivery systems, housing initiatives, urban mobility solutions, and green infrastructure for cleaner cities.

  • Ease of Doing Business: Simplified compliance frameworks, faster approvals, incentives for startups and MSMEs, and deeper integration of AI and digital tools in governance.

  • Economic Growth: Continued push for infrastructure development, renewable energy expansion, agricultural modernization, and industrial competitiveness under “Make in India 2.0”.

  • Social Equity: Enhanced welfare schemes for marginalized groups, skilling initiatives for youth, and reforms to strengthen women’s participation in the workforce.

  • Global Competitiveness: Policies to boost India’s role in global supply chains, attract foreign direct investment (FDI), and foster innovation-driven sectors such as semiconductors, EVs, biotechnology, and space technology.

Aligning with Vision of Viksit Bharat 2047

The Next-Generation Reforms are part of the government’s Amrit Kaal roadmap, designed to prepare India for Viksit Bharat 2047—a developed, prosperous nation by the time the country celebrates its centenary of independence.

Officials underscored that the reform agenda is not merely about economic liberalization but also about inclusive prosperity, ensuring that rural and urban populations alike benefit from technological advancements and policy improvements.

A Reform-Oriented Decade Ahead

The high-level meeting comes against the backdrop of India’s strong economic performance, with the country remaining one of the fastest-growing major economies. Analysts believe the upcoming reforms will strengthen India’s position as a global investment hub and enhance resilience in the face of geopolitical and economic challenges.

As PM Modi’s government enters a decisive phase of its long-term vision, the Next-Generation Reforms are expected to redefine governance, empower citizens, and make India one of the most dynamic economies in the world.
