In Rishikesh, the River Ganga's water level has surged following relentless rainfall, reaching the Lord Shiva idol at the Parmarth Niketan Ashram's Aarti Sthal. Employee Pankaj Kumar Dwivedi highlighted the repercussions of a cloudburst in Uttarkashi, which pushed water levels past the danger mark.
As a precautionary measure, authorities have prohibited access to riverbanks and locked all ghats' entrances. Dwivedi told ANI, "The rising water levels at Parmarth pose significant risks. Yesterday's incident in Uttarkashi has compounded the situation, requiring us to exercise extreme caution and support those in need."
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted a disaster management review at the State Emergency Operations Centre. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has communicated with Chief Minister Dhami, receiving updates on relief efforts. Despite challenges from ongoing rains, state agencies are coordinating effectively to assist affected residents, as confirmed by official reports.
