The Maharashtra Excise Department has uncovered a major smuggling operation, seizing foreign liquor valued at Rs 13 lakh in Panvel, Raigad district. According to authorities, the contraband, hidden as spare parts, comprised eight foreign brands. Excise officials arrested Uttam Sen and Ramesh Purohit on site, who are now in police custody.

In another significant enforcement action, the Airport Commissionerate in Mumbai executed a crackdown on narcotics smuggling. Officers seized 14.738 kilograms of hydroponic marijuana, approximately worth Rs 14.73 crore, at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. One passenger arriving from Bangkok was apprehended under the NDPS Act, 1985.

Recent operations have seen Mumbai Customs Zone-III consistently intercepting smuggled narcotics. Between July 29 and 30, officials confiscated 8.012 kg of hydroponic weed, valued at Rs 8 crore, at the same airport. These operations resulted in the arrest of multiple individuals, reinforcing the ongoing battle against trafficking networks.
