In a compelling address at the annual conclave of the Association of Portfolio Managers in India (APMI), Sebi chief Tuhin Kanta Pandey stressed the necessity for portfolio managers to embrace digital solutions to enhance onboarding, reporting, and client engagement.

Pandey pointed out the critical juncture the Portfolio Manager Services (PMS) industry faces, with its flexible regulatory environment and a growing pool of informed investors. He urged the Association to tackle misleading claims by certain managers, which could erode trust.

Furthermore, Pandey advised the industry to ensure clients comprehend the risk-return dynamics and the unique benefits of directly owning securities, which pooled products may not offer.
