BJP Defends Controversial NCERT Module on Partition Horrors

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has thrown its weight behind the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) following its contentious decision to introduce a Partition Horrors Day module. Speaking on Saturday, BJP leader Syed Shahnawaz Hussain underscored the importance of educating younger generations about the catastrophic events tied to Partition.

Hussain raised questions about the Congress leadership's role during the partition period, asking why the party conceded to the terms set by the British. "Accepting partition equates to burning the nation," he remarked. Hussain stressed the module aims not to rewrite history but to highlight Partition's human toll.

The module's release spurred significant political discourse, with Congress leader Pawan Khera criticizing the initiative and accusing historical figures like the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of villainy. Union Minister Sanjay Seth joined the debate, affirming students' rights to understand one of India's darkest historical chapters, urging critics to reexamine history.
