The Coordination Committee of All District Bar Associations of Delhi has vocally opposed a recent directive issued by the Lieutenant Governor, which mandates recording police depositions from stations instead of courts. In an urgent assembly on Tuesday, representatives from all district bar associations denounced the directive as "anti-lawyer, anti-justice, and against public interest."
In response, the Committee has passed a resolution demanding that the government retract the notification within 48 hours. The Committee plans to submit a formal representation to the responsible authorities. They have issued a clear warning: if the government fails to act within the specified time frame, all Bar Associations in Delhi will mount strong opposition, potentially leading to street protests and other forms of agitation.
The leadership warns that the implementation of this directive would severely impair the trial process and hinder the administration of justice by removing critical testimonies from the courtroom. "The district court Bar Associations of Delhi are unified in their resolve and will not permit such an anti-justice measure to be carried out under any circumstances," stated Tarun Rana, Secretary of the NDBA and Additional Secretary General of the Coordination Committee.
