In a catastrophic turn of events, relentless rainfall in Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district has wreaked havoc, causing extensive destruction estimated at over Rs. 603 crore. Since June 20, 2025, the downpour has claimed 55 lives and resulted in significant infrastructural damage.

According to Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa, human and livestock losses have been substantial, with 215 animals dead. Furthermore, housing structures have suffered severe damage, including the complete destruction of 180 mud houses and 27 concrete homes. Numerous other buildings sustained partial damage, compounding the region's distress.

Public amenities and livelihoods are heavily impacted, with significant losses in departments such as Public Works, Irrigation, and Electricity. Relief operations continue relentlessly, with authorities working to provide essential materials and financial assistance, ensuring support in rehabilitation efforts.
