Defence Minister Rajnath Singh unfurled the national flag in Secunderabad on Wednesday to mark Telangana Liberation Day. This day commemorates Hyderabad's integration into the Indian Union, liberating the state from Nizam's rule. Prominent leaders such as Gajender Singh Shekhawat and Kishan Reddy participated, with the BJP featuring prominently through a strong presence of leaders and posters at the parade grounds.

On this significant day, BJP leader Boora Narsaiah Goud emphasized its importance, noting it coincided with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 75th birthday and Vishwakarma Jayanti. Goud extended heartfelt birthday wishes to Modi, highlighting the day's multifaceted significance for Telangana and India.

The Telangana government also honored September 17 as Telangana Praja Palana Day. This day marks Hyderabad's historical merger with the Indian Union in 1948 under Operation Polo. Events included national flag hoisting at government offices, with the Union government opting to call it Hyderabad Liberation Day.

This year, the BRS government initiated National Integration Day celebrations on September 17, contrasting the Union's focus on liberation. Meanwhile, the BJP's nationwide 'Seva Pakhwada' campaign aligns with Modi's birthday, incorporating blood donation camps and exhibitions spotlighting central government achievements.
