The Uttar Pradesh government has announced the start of procurement for coarse grains during the 2025-26 season, set to begin on October 1 and conclude on December 31. The initiative primarily focuses on maize, millet, and sorghum, urging farmers to register or renew their registrations on the fcs.up.gov.in or UP Kisan Mitra app.

To ensure fair practices, payments will be made directly to farmers' Aadhaar-linked bank accounts, and procurement centers will employ biometric e-POP verification to maintain transparency. This move comes alongside an increase in the minimum support prices (MSP) for the grains: Rs 2,400 per quintal for maize, Rs 2,775 for millet, Rs 3,699 for hybrid sorghum, and Rs 3,749 for Malwandi sorghum.

The procurement will take place across several districts, targeting distinct regions for each grain type. Maize is set to be procured from districts such as Badaun and Bulandshahr, while millet procurement will cover areas including Agra and Firozabad. Sorghum will be procured from districts like Banda and Chitrakoot.
