Amritsar Police Crack Down on Drug Cartels With Major Seizure

The Amritsar Commissionerate Police have executed a major operation against cross-border narcotics networks, leading to the capture of two drug cartels. Six traffickers, including two women, were arrested, and 9.066 kg of heroin was seized. This move is part of Punjab's broader efforts to curb drug activities, spearheaded by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, according to DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav.
DGP Yadav disclosed that preliminary investigations point to foreign-based gangster Harpreet alias Happy Jatt's involvement, who allegedly collaborates with Pakistan-based smugglers through social media. The police have registered two FIRs at Chheharta Police Station in Amritsar as they delve deeper into the network's extended cross-border connections.
According to Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, Amritsar's Commissioner of Police, the initial operation caught Honey with 20 gm of heroin, leading to the subsequent arrests of Parmdeep with 5.032 kg of heroin, Harwinder alias Hinda, and Gurpreet alias Gopi, in possession of 3.010 kg. The investigation revealed that drones were utilized to drop heroin consignments. In a separate operation, two women smugglers, linked to the same network, were apprehended with 1.004 kg of heroin, with further FIRs being filed under various sections of the NDPS Act.
