On Thursday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah marked Gandhi Jayanti with a visit to the Khadi India showroom in New Delhi's Connaught Place. Shah, who also serves as the Minister of Cooperation, purchased Khadi products as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi's lasting impact on India's identity and collective spirit.

During his visit, Shah reflected on Gandhi's integration of Khadi and Swadeshi into the freedom movement, stressing their continued relevance today. He noted that these concepts not only propelled the struggle for independence but also uplifted the lives of countless impoverished Indians. Shah highlighted their historical significance as inseparable from the quest for freedom.

The Home Minister credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for rejuvenating the Khadi campaign, citing a massive increase in sales during his tenure. Shah called on citizens to wholeheartedly adopt Khadi and Swadeshi, suggesting they purchase Khadi worth at least 5,000 rupees annually. By reviving these practices, Shah envisages a strengthened national identity and economic advancement.
