In a significant development regarding the investigation into the suspicious death of renowned singer Zubeen Garg, Assam police's Crime Investigation Department (CID) apprehended two more individuals. Among the arrested are co-musician Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and co-singer Amritprava Mahanta, bringing the total number of people detained in this case to four.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by Special DGP CID Munna Prasad Gupta, confirmed the arrests late Thursday night. This move follows a series of interrogations conducted by the SIT/CID over several days. Earlier, the police took into custody Shyamkanu Mahanta, a key organizer of the North East India Festival in Singapore, along with Zubeen Garg's manager, Siddharth Sharma. Both have been remanded to 14 days in police custody by the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Kamrup (Metro) district.

In addition, the case has seen the incorporation of a murder charge under the BNS Act. The investigation, which intensifies on the 13th day since Garg's tragic demise in Singapore while swimming, witnessed important events, including the transport of Garg's remains from Delhi to Guwahati on September 21. As part of the ongoing probe, Assamese actress Nishita Goswami, alongside Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, appeared before the CID to assist in the investigation.
