West Bengal's Birbhum district experienced rainfall on Friday as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted heavy rains due to a deep depression in the Bay of Bengal. A heavy rain alert has also been issued for Odisha and other Bengal districts, with downpours expected until October 6.
Southern Bengal districts, including South 24 Parganas and Kolkata, are likely to witness heavy rains as part of this weather pattern. Additionally, Odisha received continuous rainfall from Wednesday, affecting its coastal and southern regions.
Himachal Pradesh's Kangra valley saw mild snowfall, signaling the onset of winter. The region recently endured extreme weather, causing 55 deaths and over Rs. 603 crore in infrastructural losses, with the Public Works Department suffering the highest damage.
