In a significant political development, Indian National Congress MP Manickam Tagore has raised concerns over the absence of reservations for Other Backward Classes (OBC) in the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) recruitment. Tagore, representing Virudunagar, wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the omission, describing it as a major constitutional violation.

Tagore's social media post underscored the omission of OBC reservation in the notification for 114 Personal Assistant positions at ICAR, an entity under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. According to regulations, 27% of such posts should be reserved for OBCs, a policy seemingly disregarded by ICAR.

In his letter to the Prime Minister, Tagore demanded strict adherence to reservation laws across all government departments to protect OBC rights. Meanwhile, Tagore's correspondence with Union Home Minister Amit Shah called attention to the Delhi Police recruitment falling short of the mandated 27% OBC reservation, asserting misalignments with existing reservation policies.
