Amid the ongoing expansion at Terminal 3 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport, Air India is shifting some of its domestic flight operations to alternative terminals. An official statement from Air India on Friday highlighted the necessity of moving 60 of its 180 daily domestic flights to Terminal 2, starting on October 26, 2025.
This move is prompted by the effort of Delhi International Airport Ltd. to enhance international passenger capacity. Simultaneously, Air India Express will relocate its domestic flights to the recently upgraded Terminal 1. Air India assured that international flights will continue operations from Terminal 3.
To streamline operations, flights departing from Terminal 2 will adopt a new four-digit numbering convention prefixed with '1' (AI1XXX). Both carriers will actively notify passengers through registered contact details, ensuring smooth transitions. Furthermore, inter-terminal shuttle services will maintain connectivity across terminals, benefitting passengers with seamless transfers.
