Rajasthan Fire Tragedy Spurs Call for Health Minister’s Resignation

In the wake of a catastrophic fire at the ICU of Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur, which claimed six lives, Congress MLA and Rajasthan Assembly Opposition Leader Tika Ram Jully has called for the resignation of the state Health Minister. Describing the incident as "gross negligence" by the state government, Jully demands accountability and compensation for victims' families.
Addressing the media, Jully criticized the lack of oversight, stating, "This is gross negligence on the part of the state government...The Chief Minister is busy touring Delhi...There is no monitoring...The state Health Minister should resign immediately." He stressed the importance of addressing education and health as basic state needs. The fire, reportedly caused by a short circuit, has prompted the formation of a six-member investigative committee by the Rajasthan government.
The victims' families protested, accusing the hospital staff and state government of negligence. Sanjay Singh, a relative of one victim, expressed their demand for justice by staging a dharna. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, through his social media, promised comprehensive treatment and continual monitoring of the situation.
Following his visit to SMS Hospital, Chief Minister Sharma stated he had gathered necessary information and directed quick relief efforts for those affected. "The incident of a fire breaking out at the trauma center of Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur is extremely unfortunate," he commented, assuring that every possible measure is being undertaken for patient safety and treatment.
